Thank you for taking the time to read about this firm. As we are a relatively young firm, you may not know that much about us, so I thought it might be helpful to give you a little insight into what the firm has achieved since it was set up in July 2002.

I started the practice as a sole practitioner working from home. The last 8 years has been a difficult time for the profession as a whole, but we have grown to a 24 fee earner practice with 40 staff.
Here are some of our milestones:

November 2003:    We found the perfect premises - a 5000 sq ft house in ¾ acre of land on Street Lane, which is the main commercial street in high net worth North Leeds.

May 2004:  We became a 5 fee earner practice 3 years ahead of schedule in the original business plan.

March 2005:  We took over the practice of Conway Kremer, a practice founded in 1930, which specialised mainly in private client and conveyancing work. Our private client services began.

October 2006: With a total of 20 people working here, our office space was fully occupied.

February 2007: We took on additional premises across the road pending a planning application to extend our offices.

May 2008: Planning permission having been granted, we commenced work on a 3,500 sq ft extension to the office.

May 2008: Winston Solicitors LLP was incorporated.

November 2008: The extension was completed, giving the office a capacity of 55.

July 2009: The firm was one of the first solicitors’ practices to become an LDP under the Legal Services Act 2007, enabling our valued non solicitor marketer to become a member of the LLP.

September 2009: The firm was highly commended in the 1 – 11 partner category at the Leeds & Yorkshire Lawyer Awards.

2009-2010: We have established two complementary businesses namely, Winston Medical Accountants LLP and Winston Financial Services LLP. These businesses operate out of our office, and give clients the opportunity to obtain professional advice and assistance from one convenient location. We call this Winston Professional.

2010: Turnover has continued to grow, as it has every year since the practice was set up. We look forward to the challenges ahead with confidence, optimism, and enthusiasm.

Like many others, you may have spent the past two years in a negative and stagnant atmosphere. With no way of knowing if this will ever end, you only have to look at our history to know we mean business. The key to our success is the people who work here. We are always seeking new opportunities and ready to work with talented people.
