Resolution
Resolution members encourage sensitive, cost-effective solutions that consider the needs of the whole family - and in particular the best interests of the children. Membership of Resolution commits family lawyers to resolving disputes in a non-confrontational way. Resolution members believe that family law disputes should be dealt with in a constructive way designed to preserve people’s dignity and to encourage agreements. Resolution is committed to developing and promoting best standards in the practice of family law and explores and promotes other ways of resolving family disputes, such as mediation and collaborative law, so that couples have alternatives to going to court.

Collaborative family law
Under the collaborative law process, each person appoints their own collaboratively trained lawyer. Both parties and their respective lawyers all meet together to work things out face to face, each lawyer is by their client’s side throughout the process and so they will have the continued support and legal advice.

Family Mediators Association
The Family Mediators Association (FMA) is a membership organisation for family mediators. The FMA provides training, supervision and other services to its members. They are a lead body and member organisation of the Family Mediation Council (FMC), the umbrella for professional family mediators.
