| Leeds artist is picture perfect (FEBRUARY 2009) | |||||
Keith, a retired roofer, has been painting as a hobby for over 20 years. Jonathan Winston saw his art at the Exhibition and invited Keith for a chat and to bring along some more of his work. The paintings that struck Jonathan the most were scenes of Leeds city centre and the surrounding areas. Having bought a number of the paintings for his office, Jonathan also decided Keith's artistic style would lend itself perfectly to the office building, and so decided to ask Keith if he would be interested in a commission. Five weeks later, after working solidly on the piece, Keith arrived to hand over the finished artwork. “I am so thrilled with all of Keith's paintings that we have bought, but I am especially excited about the piece we commissioned”, comments Jonathan. “His style is perfect as he has captured the detail, especially all of the brick work. It has been a pleasurable experience to work with Keith and I'm looking forward to seeing what he brings next to show me.” |

The people of Leeds are most fortunate to have St. Gemma's Hospice and it continues to do outstanding work, making a huge difference to patients and their families. St. Gemma's Hospice provides specialist medical and nursing care for people with life threatening illnesses, along with support for their families. Crucially, the care provided by St. Gemma's is free of charge to patients, families and carers. Fundraising is a vital to the annual running costs of St. Gemma's as more than half of the £7 million needed is raised through donations and events. Winston Solicitors would like to thank everyone who supported the event and most importantly, for the donation's so gratefully received. |

SCHOOL PUPILS SHOW THEIR BUSINESS FLAIR Winston Solicitors LLP welcomed the opportunity to work with Cardinal Heenan High School, in Leeds 6, during a project involving imagination, creativity and business flair. A ‘Dragon’s Den’ style forum was set up with the Year 10’s working on their projects in five teams of 16. Each team had two hours come up with a business idea with a prototype, work out costings and prepare their presentation. Spokespersons for each team presented their idea to a panel of judges who included Miles Mount from LEAP, Christine Marsden from Education Leeds and from Winston Solicitors LLP Jonathan Winston and Francis O’Neill. Having listened to all the business ideas the panel then chose the most worthy winner. “I was looking for a team that presented an interesting plan, but I also wanted to see enthusiasm and belief in themselves.” said Jonathan Winston. “It was great fun and hopefully the teams were able to work on a project that motivated them and enabled them to be work as part of a team.” |
