BMW product recall

The German car firm BMW has said that it is to recall over 100,000 cars in the UK due to a problem with their battery which, in extreme cases, could lead to a fire.

The firm, which is having to recall 1.3 million cars worldwide, including 367,000 in the USA, says that the move affects the 5 Series and 6 Series models where the battery cable cover has not been properly fitted. It says that, in some cases this could lead to the driver not being able to start their car and could, in rare circumstances, cause an electrical malfunction which may result in a fire.

BMW stresses that no accidents or injuries have been reported and the issue was only brought to their attention through continued testing and customer feedback. The company says that it will contact owners in the coming weeks to make arrangements for their vehicle to be checked.
