What Is an Online Notary Service?

A remote notary public lets you complete the full notarisation process by video call - no in-person visit needed.

Here's how it works:

  • You book an appointment at a time that suits you, uploading the documents you need notarising
  • Before the appointment, we verify your identity using one of several options
  • At the appointment, the notary goes through the documents with you, applying a digital signature as required
  • Shortly after the appointment, you receive your finalised documents available for download

Need paper documents for India, or similar countries?
There's an option for express tracked international delivery for hard copies of the finalised documents.

Online, Notary Public Services - Available Worldwide

People use our online notary service for:

  • Powers of attorney for overseas use
  • Certified passport or ID copies
  • Business contracts for foreign partners
  • Property purchases abroad
  • Visa or immigration paperwork

Everything is done online, securely, and usually the same day.

How Online Notarisation Works - Step by Step

Here's how simple it is:

1. Book your appointment

Select what type of notarisation you need, choose a time that suits you & upload your documents. You will be advised before your appointment if there's anything missing.

2. Verify your identity

This can be done a number of different ways, but most commonly this will involve using your passport and a smartphone. This normally only takes around 5 minutes to complete.

3. Meet your notary

Join a short video call. The notary will double check your identity, witness your signature and talk you through the entire process.

4. Receive your notarised documents

You'll get your documents back digitally, signed and ready to use. If you've chosen to receive a hard copy, the required documents will additionally be posted out to you.

All of your information stays safe - this service meets global privacy and legal standards.

What if I can't do this online

At the moment (July 2025) this service is only available online. Winston Solicitors intends later in the year to offer an additional facility where you can come to our office, and we will assist you with getting your documents online in readiness for your notary call. We anticipate this will be ready by Autumn 2025.
