Registering Your Interest Before the Scheme Officially Opens

The Church of England Redress Scheme is being introduced to support individuals who have experienced abuse connected to the Church. What Is the Church of England Redress Scheme?

In brief, the scheme has been developed to provide support to those who have experienced abuse linked to the Church of England. This may include abuse by clergy, church officials, or others acting on behalf of the Church.

It is expected to offer:

  • Financial compensation
  • Formal acknowledgement and apologies
  • Access to therapeutic support
  • Other forms of redress tailored to individual circumstances

Importantly, the scheme has confirmed that legal costs will be covered, meaning that compensation awarded to survivors will not be reduced by legal fees.

A Process That May Feel Uncertain

Although this progress is significant, the Scheme has been subject to delays, and there is currently no confirmed date for when applications will open.

We understand that this uncertainty can be frustrating, particularly for those who have already waited a long time for acknowledgment and support. Our role is to provide clear, honest updates and to ensure you understand your options when the time comes.

How We Can Support You

We support survivors with sensitivity, clarity, and respect.

When the scheme opens, we can help you:

  • Understand whether you may be eligible
  • Navigate the application process
  • Ensure your experiences are properly represented

There is no pressure to proceed, and no expectation. Only support when and if you need it.

Take the First Step and Register for the Church of England Redress Scheme

Client feedback

Winston’s yet again have been fantastic, highly professional and I would highly recommend. The chart tracker is great so you can always see where you are with everything. Joe Rawnsley and Samantha Robertson Strong have gone above and beyond. Thanks so much to you both.

My financial adviser had recommended Leasa Foster from Winston Solicitors to support on my purchase of a house as a first time buyer. She demonstrated professionalism throughout all our interactions whether it be verbally or via emails. She provided clear instructions and guidance throughout the different stages and steps of transaction. She was prompt in addressing any queries that I had raised and I felt well-equipped with the information I needed to make decisions throughout the process. I was kept up to date with the progress of the transaction constantly. She was pro-active in following up all other relevant parties to ensure that we complete the steps of the purchase in a timely manner. Furthermore, at a crucial point of the transaction when Leasa had been on leave, her colleague had readily taken over the transaction seamlessly to avoid any further delays. Overall, I would highly recommend Leasa and Winston Solicitors, in general, for conveyancing and property-related matters.
