Registering Your Interest Before the Scheme Officially Opens

The Church of England Redress Scheme is being introduced to support individuals who have experienced abuse connected to the Church. For many survivors, this marks an important step towards recognition, accountability, and meaningful redress. The scheme has now received final approval from the General Synod, but is not yet open for applications. What Is the Church of England Redress Scheme?

In brief, the scheme has been developed to provide support to those who have experienced abuse linked to the Church of England. This may include abuse by clergy, church officials, or others acting on behalf of the Church.

It is expected to offer:

  • Financial compensation
  • Formal acknowledgement and apologies
  • Access to therapeutic support
  • Other forms of redress tailored to individual circumstances

Importantly, the scheme has confirmed that legal costs will be covered, meaning that compensation awarded to survivors will not be reduced by legal fees.

A Process That May Feel Uncertain

Although this progress is significant, the Scheme has been subject to delays, and there is currently no confirmed date for when applications will open.

We understand that this uncertainty can be frustrating, particularly for those who have already waited a long time for acknowledgment and support. Our role is to provide clear, honest updates and to ensure you understand your options when the time comes.

How We Can Support You

We support survivors with sensitivity, clarity, and respect.

When the scheme opens, we can help you:

  • Understand whether you may be eligible
  • Navigate the application process
  • Ensure your experiences are properly represented

There is no pressure to proceed, and no expectation. Only support when and if you need it.

Take the First Step and Register for the Church of England Redress Scheme

Client feedback

We can not thank Leasa and the team enough for their service in purchasing our first home! Leasa was incredibly proactive, responsive and efficient in collating our documentation, following up other solicitors and helping us move into our home. We couldnt done it without her! A big thanks to Julie as well who helped with the process

My wife and I instructed Momika Wolsing of Winstons Solicitors to draw up new Wills.I am please that we did so and am happy to provide a review in this context As a former lawyer myself, I have a critical eye.We found her efficient, knowledgeable. helpful and pleasant. She has an eye for detail and knows her business. She drew up the Wills in good time. Her fees were reasonable Her support staff are also pleasant and efficient.Altogether, from first to last, we received a 5 star service and I was happy to instruct Winstons as co-executors of the Wills.

Fantastic service - super efficient, no nonsense, quick and communicative. I own and run a Leeds-based Estate Agency and we've tried and tested many many conveyancing solicitors and I can honestly say, Winstons (Samantha and team in particular) are amongst the best! Thanks so much for your help with my recent property sale!

I would highly recommend Winston Solicitors! I was referred by my cousin who also had a fantastic experience. I can’t thank Samantha and Joe enough for their services from day one. They made the whole house buying process feel clear and much less daunting, which I particularly appreciated buying on my own for the first time. They were very responsive and went above and beyond to ensure that I completed on the day I had hoped. The attention to detail in the enquiries was particularly appreciated. Thank you!
