Register for the Church of England Redress Scheme Compensation

Registering Your Interest Before the Scheme Officially Opens

The Church of England Redress Scheme is being introduced to support individuals who have experienced abuse connected to the Church. For many survivors, this marks an important step towards recognition, accountability, and meaningful redress. The scheme has now received final approval from the General Synod, but is not yet open for applications. However, you can register for the Church of England Redress Scheme before it becomes fully operational.

What Is the Church of England Redress Scheme?

In brief, the scheme has been developed to provide support to those who have experienced abuse linked to the Church of England. This may include abuse by clergy, church officials, or others acting on behalf of the Church.

It is expected to offer:

  • Financial compensation
  • Formal acknowledgement and apologies
  • Access to therapeutic support
  • Other forms of redress tailored to individual circumstances

Importantly, the scheme has confirmed that legal costs will be covered, meaning that compensation awarded to survivors will not be reduced by legal fees.

A Process That May Feel Uncertain

Although this progress is significant, the Scheme has been subject to delays, and there is currently no confirmed date for when applications will open.

We understand that this uncertainty can be frustrating, particularly for those who have already waited a long time for acknowledgment and support. Our role is to provide clear, honest updates and to ensure you understand your options when the time comes.

How We Can Support You

We support survivors with sensitivity, clarity, and respect.

When the scheme opens, we can help you:

  • Understand whether you may be eligible
  • Navigate the application process
  • Ensure your experiences are properly represented

There is no pressure to proceed, and no expectation. Only support when and if you need it.

Aged 91 I needed to rewrite my will and transfer my affairs from a city-centre solicitor to one more accessible for myself and my executors. Winston proved an ideal choice. Emily was most helpful and efficient with the will, and I am confident that my estate will be dealt with just as well.

I recently had my will written by Winston's Solicitors, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. From my very first contact with the firm, every member of staff was professional, courteous, and attentive to my needs. The solicitor who handled my will took the time to explain everything clearly, making sure I understood each part of the process and felt confident in the decisions I was making. There was no rushing or jargon — just clear, patient guidance through what can often feel like a daunting task. What stood out most was the consistent professionalism across the entire team, from initial enquiry to the final signing. It's clear that client care is a genuine priority at this firm, not just a tagline.I'd happily recommend Winston's Solicitors to anyone looking for a trustworthy, knowledgeable, and professional team to handle their will or other legal matters. Thank you for making the process so straightforward and stress-free.

We are very grateful to Winston Solicitors for their help in sorting out matters relating to a Last Will and Testament along with a Family Trust. As this was not a straightforward matter, we had no idea where to begin but, thanks to Monika Volsing and her team, this has now been completed. It has taken a good few months but Monika has been there to explain and carry out every step that needed to be undertaken. There is no way we could have done this without Winston Solicitors and I cannot recommend them highly enough

Excellent support with a CHC case - James Urquhart-Burton took time to listen to our situation, helped us focus on the relevant issues, and explained the process clearly. His guidance gave us confidence that the case was being properly prepared ahead of the MDT meeting. We felt supported throughout and were grateful for the care, professionalism and attention to detail shown by James and the wider team. I would happily recommend him and Winston Solicitors to anyone dealing with a CHC matter.
