Double digit house price inflation – Market still sluggish but under supply means the cost of buying a home is 10.5% more expensive than 12 months ago

The Nationwide Building Society has said that house price growth has gone into double figures for the first time in three years. Its figures revealed that UK house prices went up by 10.5% in the year to the end of April, the highest since June 2007. The rise left the price of the average home at £167,802.

However Nationwide believe that the price surge will not last and by the end of the year sellers will begin to outnumber buyers. Despite the new figures, activity in the property market is still sluggish with the average first-time buyer having to put down a 25% deposit to secure a mortgage. Recent figures from HM Revenue & Customs show that completed sales in the UK rose by 22% in March but that that was the lowest March figure since HMRC current records began in 1978.

I have found Winston’s excellent in dealing with our conveyance. This firm totally deserve 5 stars and industry awards received. They are professional, friendly and respond to all docs in an extremely straightforward way. Their pricing is also extremely reasonable. I would have no hesitation in recommending this firm and would use them again should the need arise. I would like to give a special mention to The legal representative Michelle Ayres, who dealt with the sale of mum’s house in an extremely efficient and safe manner.

Winston Solicitors helped me with the purchase of my first ever property. I worked directly with Leasa Foster and Julie Smith. From start to finish they were very efficient and offered detailed information for each step of the way. As a first-time buyer, I wasn’t familiar with the process or what to expect, so having everything explained clearly and receiving detailed guidance at every stage was very helpful. Whenever I had a question or needed to discuss something, there was always someone available to assist, even when Leasa was not there. I always felt well supported and guided throughout the process, which made everything feel straightforward and ensured the purchase went as smoothly as possible. I’m very happy that I chose Winston Solicitors and would highly recommend them.

Sidraa Razaq helped us with our first house purchase. She was fantastic. So many other people have told me they have had bad experiences with their solicitors. Sidraa was the opposite. Professional, responsive, clear, organised, efficient, friendly and supportive. Thank you so much.
