The police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are investigating an accident involving a forklift truck in which a worker died.

Leeds Coroner’s Court heard that Andrew Hanshaw had been working at shed company Woodlands Sheds premises in Leeds when the accident happened. He had been attempting to run past the truck to avoid a collision but it had not stopped in time and contact was made. He was immediately taken to Leeds General Infirmary but died from his injuries later the same day.

The coroner David Hinchliff said that the HSE and the police would both be providing detailed investigations and added that at some stage a decision will be made as to which of them takes a leading role in the inquiry. He adjourned the inquest pending further enquiries.
