Leeds to get more 20mph zones

Officials in Leeds are preparing to unveil a large expansion of the city’s 20mph zones in a bid to improve road safety.

Councillors will hold discussions with highway officials as to where the new zones will be situated but one councillor, Neil Dawson, of the Morley ward, insists they will take place. Last year saw 26 fatalities on Leeds roads with 271 others seriously injured and almost 2,400 slightly injured and Mr Dawson wants to see the council come up with a plan to get 20mph zones outside all schools in the city and also onto estates where residents have requested a lower limit.

He said that new 20mph zones created last year have already proved a great success, but they would be improved further by greater enforcement of the new zones. Councillor Richard Lewis, executive member for development at the council, confirmed that six schemes covering seven schools had already been rolled out and another 11 covering 16 schools will go out this year. He said that highway officials and councillors would soon meet to discuss further expansion of the scheme.

I was dreading the probate process after my husband sadly died earlier this year. Friends who had been in the same situation warned me it could take months or even years. I didn't even know what it involved, it was a complete mystery to me!Thank good ness for Emily Spencer at Winston solicitors who talked me through the whole process and told me what information I needed to complete the paperwork. Emails and phone queries were answered very promptly and once I'd submitted all the figures the grant of probate was applied for by Emily and was returned within a few weeks, not months! Great result and nothing like the trauma I was anticipating.
