Winston Solicitors recently took part in a mock employment tribunal along with Harrowells Solicitors from York. The mock tribunal was hosted by the University of York’s Management School in partnership with North Yorkshire branch of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). The aim was to show business leaders and HR professionals how to minimise the risk of tribunal claims, improve preparation for tribunals and enhance their chances of successfully defending tribunal claims.

Marie Walsh, Head of Employment at Winston Solicitors, co-produced the tribunal and even acted out the part of the Clerk. Barristers from Dere Street Chambers together with David Maxwell, a part time employment tribunal judge, also took part in the event which has received a volume of positive feedback from CIPD members.

With over 100 attending the mock tribunal the event turned out to be a lively experience, with the ‘judge’ even requesting ‘order’ to quieten down the crowd.
