The Winston Solicitors Annual Quiz: Another Successful Charity Event in Support of Mencap

At Winston Solicitors, we believe in giving back to our community and supporting worthy causes. That's why we were thrilled, as always, to host the annual Winston Solicitors charity quiz night. All proceeds went to Leeds Mencap, a fantastic charity that works to support people with learning disabilities and their families.

The evening was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and some healthy competition as the teams battled it out to be crowned quiz champions. With rounds covering everything from trends and general knowledge to music and sport, there was something for everyone to enjoy. There was even a curveball picture round to add another layer of challenge.

Thanks to the generosity of our participants and the support of other businesses, we're delighted to announce that we raised £3,000 for Leeds Mencap. Every penny raised will go towards helping Leeds Mencap continue their vital work, providing support, advice, and services to those who need it most.

Who Are Leeds Mencap?

As a completely independent charity, Leeds Mencap was started over 70 years ago. Founded by people with learning disabilities, Leeds Mencap directly supports others with learning disabilities, and indirectly supports many who use their specialist equipment. The charity takes a holistic approach when providing support, giving much needed advice and long-term help to individuals and their families.

While Leeds Mencap is affiliated with the Royal Mencap Society, it is an independent entity. Which means that they need to source their own funding. So when it comes to fundraising, drumming up support from individuals, businesses and events like the Winston Solicitors Annual Quiz is incredibly important.

Thank You to All Who Helped and Took Part

Events like the Winston Solicitors Annual Quiz not only allow us to make a positive impact on our community but also provide an opportunity for us to come together outside of the office and strengthen our connections as a team. It's wonderful to see everyone rallying together for such a worthwhile cause, and we couldn't be prouder of what we’ve achieved.

We'd like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the evening, whether by attending, donating, or helping to organise. Your support means the world to us and will make a real difference to the lives of those supported by Leeds Mencap.

Thanks also go to the venue, West Park Rugby Club, for hosting us and Paul Grindley for creating such an exciting set of quiz questions and delivering the quiz with much aplomb.

Many businesses donated some fantastic raffle prizes. Thank you to The Woods - Chapel Allerton, Leeds United Football Club, The Good Health Centre, Share Jewellers, Astonish, Chapel Allerton Pilates, The Leeds Deli, Debbie J Beauty, Dawn at Halo, Leeds Arts Centre and It’s the Beer Talking.

Here’s to Another Successful Quiz Next Year

As we reflect on the success of our charity quiz night, we're already looking forward to planning the next one for a special year in 2025. Thank you once again to everyone who played a part in this fantastic evening.

The Winston Solicitors Annual Quiz gets booked up really quickly, and this year was no different. So keep your eyes peeled for the 2025 announcement if you want to be in with a chance of taking part.

Client feedback

I really appreciated my solicitor, Keertan. They were very patient, helpful and compassionate despite my own issues with sending ID off. I ended up sorting out my ID, and everything worked out. Thank you!!

Olivia and the team at Winston Solicitors were really helpful and supportive every step of the way to buying my first home. I found their online portal super helpful to see what still needed to be done and understand each step of the process.
Samantha

The conveyancing team, led by Samantha Robertson-Strong have been excellent in guiding us through both the sale and purchase of our houses. Always communicative and happy to explain aspects of the process. Highly recommend.

Amanda and the entire Winston Solicitors team were exceptional from start-to-finish. As our 'point person' on my father's personal injury case (and not being in any way legally minded ourselves), Amanda guided us effortlessly through the requirements, evidence & documentation needed along the way, and timelines with different possible outcomes (never overstated, just refresgingly honest). My dad (at the time 88 but by settlement approaching 90) was kept in the loop at all times, able to make decisions for himself due to the professionalism and care of Amanda.Would highly recommend Amanda and the Winston team - really impressed.

Olivia Cooke and her team provided an excellent service throughout our property sale. The team were efficient, clear, and kept us well informed at every stage. The conveyancing process was handled smoothly and professionally. Highly recommended Winston Solicitors. We were particularly impressed with our conveyancing assistant, Amanda Lester, who kept us updated and made the process a great experience!
