A Career in Marketing Leads to a Passion for Law
From her beginnings as a dedicated Private Client solicitor within our firm, Monika has consistently demonstrated an extraordinary depth of legal expertise and a passion for client advocacy.
Monika originally studied Psychology and Media at The University of Leeds before retraining in law. Initially, she worked in personal injury and employment law, before specialising in Private Client.
We asked her how her career path had changed and why she chose to specialise in Private Client work after retraining as a solicitor:
After studying for a psychology degree and then seven years working in the marketing industry across the public, private and third sector, a casual conversation with a friend, who was a partner at a law firm, made me re-evaluate my skills and consider the law as a career. Which my mother was over the moon about, as she was a lawyer in Poland before she moved here!
I went to law school and then started my legal career in personal injury. But it was when I did my training contract, and had six months in the Private Client Team at the firm where I trained, that I knew this was the area of law I wanted to be in. What inspires me about private client law is helping people who have life-changing decisions to make. Some of whom are elderly and vulnerable. I’m not exaggerating when I say the advice and work that we do really can protect them. I also find it very interesting learning about the history of people’s lives and then figuring out what we can do to assist them.
Prior to joining Winston Solicitors, Monika worked for Morrish Solicitors and Stonegate Legal and has over ten years’ experience in the legal field. Her journey from Private Client solicitor at Winston Solicitors to head of the team is a testament to her demonstrated expertise and dedication.

Monika’s ability to understand and address the needs of each client, most of whom are older individuals and often in vulnerable circumstances. continues to be a real asset to the team. She has forged enduring relationships built on trust, integrity, and a shared commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes.
