Head of Private Client, Monika Volsing, has appeared on the latest episode of local podcast, Showcasing North Leeds. The episode covers the importance of Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and when to start planning for the future.

What's It All About?

At what age should you draw up a will? The answer to that question may just surprise you. It’s one of many asked by Levi Fowler in Episode 3. of the Showcasing North Leeds podcast.

And it’s not all about the importance of Wills. Monika and Levi take a more in-depth look at every aspect of Private Client law and how that term can be confusing to people not in the law industry. They also take a look at Monika’s career history and how an accomplished Marketer made the decision to retrain as a solicitor after seven years in the field.

Showcasing North Leeds Podcast and the LS8 Meet-Up Group

Winston Solicitors are honoured to have been one of the first North Leeds businesses to be included on Fowler & Powell’s podcast. Our local community is very important to us, and we strive to give back where we can. That’s the main reason we started our LS8 Meet-Up Group, a thriving, informal networking event held in Roundhay. In fact, Fowler & Powell were among the first businesses to jump on board. They're also a great example of how the LS8 Meet-Ups bring local organisations together and create lasting relationships.

Hosed by Fowler & Powell estate agents, the Showcasing North Leeds podcast has a mission to find and spotlight all local businesses in Leeds. It’s not all about the solicitors. To date, Levi has interviewed the young entrepreneur who founded Chapel Allerton’s Bricklebank’s Bar. As well as the new landlady of the Mustard Pot. We look forward to hearing more from our local community.

The Importance of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney

We can’t stress enough how important it is to draw up a Will and Lasting Power of Attorney.

Wills

If you are aged 18 and over, a professionally drawn up Will is the only way to ensure that your wishes are carried out after your death. If you were to die without a Will (known as intestate) anything that happens to any money, property or possessions that you owned is out of the hands of your friends and family.

Lasting Powers of Attorney

Setting up a Lasting Power of Attorney means that you know who will take care of your assets should you become incapacitated or pass away. We can help talk you through the process in simple terms.

To speak to a private client solicitor about the importance of wills and setting up an LPA, please contact our Wills and Probate team on 0113 320 5000, or email wills@winstonsolicitors.co.uk

Aged 91 I needed to rewrite my will and transfer my affairs from a city-centre solicitor to one more accessible for myself and my executors. Winston proved an ideal choice. Emily was most helpful and efficient with the will, and I am confident that my estate will be dealt with just as well.

I recently had my will written by Winston's Solicitors, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. From my very first contact with the firm, every member of staff was professional, courteous, and attentive to my needs. The solicitor who handled my will took the time to explain everything clearly, making sure I understood each part of the process and felt confident in the decisions I was making. There was no rushing or jargon — just clear, patient guidance through what can often feel like a daunting task. What stood out most was the consistent professionalism across the entire team, from initial enquiry to the final signing. It's clear that client care is a genuine priority at this firm, not just a tagline.I'd happily recommend Winston's Solicitors to anyone looking for a trustworthy, knowledgeable, and professional team to handle their will or other legal matters. Thank you for making the process so straightforward and stress-free.

We are very grateful to Winston Solicitors for their help in sorting out matters relating to a Last Will and Testament along with a Family Trust. As this was not a straightforward matter, we had no idea where to begin but, thanks to Monika Volsing and her team, this has now been completed. It has taken a good few months but Monika has been there to explain and carry out every step that needed to be undertaken. There is no way we could have done this without Winston Solicitors and I cannot recommend them highly enough
