Can you get help with your application fee?
You can apply for help with the application fee. If you are a property and financial affairs deputy, then the finances of the person who you are applying to be a deputy for will be considered. If you are applying to be a personal welfare deputy, then your finances will be considered when deciding if your application for help will be successful. The fee can be reduced or waived depending on the value of the assets and income they or you have, and certain benefits they or you receive.

Can you get help with your supervision fees?
If the person who you are applying to be a deputy for has an income less than £12,000 or is on certain benefits then you could apply to be exempt from supervision fees or a reduction.

Security bond
The Court of Protection may order that a property and financial affairs deputy pay to set up a security bond. The amount of the security bond is decided on a case-by-case basis and may be paid out of the deputy’s own finances or using the money of the person who you are applying to be a deputy for.

NB: timescales and fees are subject to change – please ask for details.

We had our wills updated recently, as well as seeking advice on inheritance tax. Emily Spencer was fantastic, responsive to our needs, and initiated giving good advice and feedback where required. We were not the easiest of clients to track down due to our busy work lives and she patiently nudged us along to get the wills completed. Very pleased with the service we have received from Winstons over the years.
