Today is Armed Forces Day, 24th June. Armed Forces Day is a day to show support for serving men and women, their families, veterans and cadets. Events are being held up and down the county and you can find out more here. 

The Armed Forces Covenant 

Whilst today is an opportunity for the public to show their support, the Government, businesses and communities support members and ex-members of the forces through the Armed Forces Covenant. The Armed Forces Covenant is a pledge to acknowledge and understand that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces should be treated with fairness and respect. 

The Armed Forces Compensation Scheme 

The Armed Forces Compensation Scheme also exists to compensate members and ex-members who have sustained an injury or illness due to service. It is a non-fault based scheme and compensates for a who range of injures are included in the scheme including both physical injuries, psychological injuries and injuries that are specific to service, such as blast injuries.
