Why is Separating from a Narcissist so Difficult?
Separating from a narcissist is more difficult than leaving a “normal” failed relationship – why? During your time with the narcissist, you have become bonded by trauma. The good times were few and far between. At the start of the relationship, they filled you with an irresistible gush of happiness. Serotonin is addictive, but those brief moments don’t last and your constant efforts to experience those good times begin to have less and less impact.
Realising that the narcissist will not change and that you have to leave them can be frightening on so many levels. You have come to believe all the negative things that the narcissist has said about you to family and friends. And you don’t know how they will react to the news.
You can survive the narcissist and you can begin your life afresh. However, dealing with the narcissist through divorce and children matters is extremely difficult. We recognise this and have an understanding of narcissism. This will help you to navigate dealing with someone who has to have his/her way, and who has to be in control.

Unfortunately, narcissism whilst difficult to diagnose, is also on the rise. Employing a solicitor who understands the trauma that you have suffered, understands how to navigate you through a divorce and resolving children matters with a narcissist is essential
